The Chinese New
Year follows the lunar calendar and it is celebrated on February 16, 2018,
which is the second New Moon of the Year.
2017 was the
year of the Fire Rooster. It was a year to affirm you, to pursue what you
wanted and to put you in phase with this feminine side. There was a powerful
energy that really helped to create waves in our lives and in the world.
2018 brings more
masculine energy with the Year of the Earth Dog. The Yang energy is always
external, rather than the Yin energy which is more interior.
Even if we have
this strong masculine energy in 2018, the element of the Earth and the sign of
the dog will temper this and will contribute to creating a soft and amusing
atmosphere throughout the year.

In Western
astrology, it is also a very Earth-oriented year, and it is interesting that it
also corresponds to Chinese astrology.
The energy of
the Earth is to anchor yourself to the earth, to create security and find your
balance as you go. Earth's energy is slow to move, but movements are always
calculated and always help you to go further.
Under so much
energy from Earth, we may feel like we're not moving forward, but 2018 is
actually one of the most important years for laying the groundwork and making
some of the biggest decisions of your life.
Even if you do
not feel like you're doing a lot, the work planned for 2018 will really prepare
you for many years to come.
Dogs are really
one of the most special animals. They are a true expression of unconditional
love and are always present for us. Dogs have incredible healing abilities as
well as a sixth sense and great intuition.

These are all
things that we can cultivate and adopt this year as part of our journey.
In Chinese
astrology, the year of the dog is associated with the search for balance and
organization. On the one hand, we may feel called to act, change, and move
forward, but on the other hand, we may feel the need to rest and reflect.
Think of this
year's energy as being similar to a dog's behavior. You can be full of energy
and eager to go, but you also need to rest!
This duality is
part of the nature of the Earth Dog, and it almost seems to pave the way for
the success and abundance that will follow in 2019, with the Year of the Pig.
Even though dogs
are considered innocent, fun animals, there is also a darker side in the dog's
year.
The Year of the
Dog is also a time to advance cautiously in business and in sensitive
situations. There could be a tendency to attack others, become too attached or
stubborn.
The Year of the
Dog can also bring carefree energy, and there can be havoc or chaos where you
have to find and sort.

The positive
side of Yang's energy this year is that most problems and conflicts will be
resolved quickly. With Yang energy, things speed up quickly and calm down
quickly when it comes to conflict.
All the energy
of the Earth dog will make it the perfect moment to take a "basic"
approach in your life.
Studying,
building relationships or your career, spending time with family and connecting
with your ego are all great places to get your attention.
On a global
side, things can also be chaotic this year, especially with respect to
government structures. While things can be felt everywhere, there is also the
potential for many positive changes to be implemented.

Seeing that it
is a year of the Earth in both Western and Chinese astrology, you can be sure
that Mother Earth will also speak and we will have no choice but to listen.
Overall, the
year of the Earth Dog is a positive and harmonious year. This is a year where
we will truly have to honor the cycles of action and rest, create stability,
and find that fun approach to life no matter where it takes us.
